Supported Versions

This article describes the versions of Android, iOS and Mac OS that the Systems Department currently supports. It also contains information on printer hardware and email client support. There will be a link at the bottom of this article to a Google Sheet which will contain the very latest information about supported version of mobile devices and Java, as the versions will change frequently.

Desktop / Laptop Devices:

Mac:

We currently support Mac OS 10.10 (Yosemite) and above for all users across the company.  Any version of Mac OS below 10.10 is not supported, and versions above 10.10 will be supported up to 10.14 (Mojave) if they were installed by the Systems Department.

If you currently are running an OS lower than 10.10 (Yosemite), please contact the Systems Department to schedule an upgrade.

Windows:

We only support Windows 10 and Windows Server 2012.  If you are running Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows XP or Windows 2000, please contact the Systems Department for an upgrade.

Mobile Devices:

Apple iPhone:

At the time of the creation of this article, iOS 12.1.4 is the latest version.  This is the only version of iOS that is currently supported. Please see the link at the bottom of this article for the most recent update that is supported, as it may have changed.

Android:

At the time of the creation of the article, the Systems Department will support the latest version of Marshmallow (6.0.1), Nougat (7.1.2),Oreo (8.0) and Pie (9.0).

Printers:

We only support HP and Brother printers that were installed by the Systems Department.  Any printers that were purchased and installed by employees other than those in the Systems Department will not be supported.  The copiers at Davis, Mountain Democrat, Winters and Georgetown will be supported on a limited basis, but are not guaranteed to work with all of our hardware as we did not choose the make / model of each copier, nor did we install them.

E-mail Clients:

The Systems Department only supports the use of the Gmail web interface for accessing mail.  While many people in the company use Mac Mail and Thunderbird email clients, Google does not support these devices for use with GMail, and therefor we cannot support the use of these clients.  You are risking the possible loss of email if you use one of these clients.  The best option, and only supported option, is to use the GMail web interface.  For mobile devices, the GMail app is the only supported platform.
